Dog dies, baby among 2 rescued in Orlando apartment fire

ORLANDO, Fla. – A dog died and several other animals and people were rescued Friday morning in a fire that damaged eight units at an Orlando apartment complex, officials said.

The fire broke out Friday in the 1800 block of South Semoran Boulevard.

Orlando firefighters rescued an adult and a baby who were both treated at the scene, the department said on social media.

One dog was found dead, but two other dogs and two pet birds were rescued, according to the Orlando Fire Department.

No injuries were reported, but 13 people were displaced from their respective homes, firefighters initially said.

In an update shared Wednesday, July 24, American Red Cross of Central Florida said its volunteers had assisted 16 residents impacted by the apartment fire.
