APOPKA, Fla. – Two Orange County contract workers were injured Thursday morning when the scaffolding at a pedestrian bridge partially collapsed in Apopka, police said.
The collapse happened around 8:30 a.m. on the West Orange Trail pedestrian bridge. The bridge remains closed.
According to Apopka police, the workers on behalf of a company called Southern Road and Bridge were making repairs to the bridge when the scaffolding collapsed.
The workers were taken to a hospital for evaluation and treatment and were later released, according to Orange County officials.
No one else was injured.
The work on the bridge has been halted while an investigation into the collapse takes place, according to the county. The crews are cutting the scaffolding away piece by piece.
Orange County Public Works is looking into what caused the accident.
