ORLANDO, Fla. – Conn’s HomePlus, a home goods store that has been around for 134 years, has filed for bankruptcy and will be closing nearly half of its 170 stores, according to CNN.
The Texas-based company, with locations mostly in the southern U.S. filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week.

The 73 closures are listed on Conn’s website with Florida being affected the most with 20 stores set to close their doors. Of those, 10 are in the Central Florida area.
Those locations include:
- 8401 FL 33 in Lakeland
- 2800 SW 24th Ave., Suite 200 in Ocala
- 7407 West Colonial Drive in Orlando
- 1631 Florida Mall Ave. in Orlando
- 2628 East Colonial Drive in Orlando
- 130 East Altamonte Drive, Suite 1700 in Altamonte Springs
- 810 Saxon Blvd. in Orange City
- 105 W. Vine St. in Kissimmee
- 2500 West International Speedway Blvd., Suite 700 in Daytona Beach
- 433 South Babcock St. in Melbourne
Shares of Conn’s have fallen more than 90% for the year and the company received a delisting notice from Nasdaq a few weeks ago.
