Florida gas prices dip slightly after drop in oil prices

State average at $3.40 a gallon

ORLANDO, Fla. – The average for Florida gas prices reversed course after rising 11 cents early last week and dropped 7 cents in the past four days.

According to AAA, the state average was $3.40 per gallon on Sunday, which is 3 cents more than a week ago. The national average for regular gas is $3.51 a gallon.

“Gas prices could move even lower, after a big drop in oil prices last week,” AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins said in a release. “Recent fuel reports show China’s crude oil imports are declining.”

In early July, the U.S. price for crude traded at around $83 per barrel. Oil has since declined a total of 8% through the past three weeks. The biggest weekly drop occurred last week when oil prices fell nearly $3 per barrel.

According to GasBuddy price reports, the cheapest station in Orlando was priced at $3.16 a gallon yesterday while the most expensive was $4.09 a gallon.
