Pedestrian dies after being struck along Lake County road

Crash occurred on Lake Mack Drive and Evergreen Drive

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year-old man from DeLand died after being struck by a pick-up truck early Monday while walking on the road in Lake County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 5 a.m. as the Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on Lake Mack Drive, just south of Evergreen Drive.

According to an FHP crash report, the man was walking northbound on Lake Mack Drive and in the direct path of the pick-up truck when they were struck.

The man was transported to AdventHealth DeLand and pronounced dead. The driver and passenger of the pick-up truck stayed at the scene. The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk at the time of the crash, the report states.

The man’s identification has not been released.

FHP is still investigating.
