ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An arrest has been made following a shooting at a gas station in Orange County that led to a man’s death and left two others hurt, according to the sheriff’s office.

Jeffrey Figueroa Rivera, 46, was arrested via warrant on Thursday during a traffic stop not far from his home along Marlowe Avenue, according to his arrest affidavit.

Deputies responded around 11:26 p.m. July 26 to the Texaco gas station at 827 Lancaster Road. There, it was reported that a man later identified as Figueroa Rivera had engaged in a physical fight with another man before driving away and returning in a BMW from which shots were fired “indiscriminately” at four people, striking three of them, the sheriff’s office said.

Not only were the three people shot not involved in the initial fight, but one of them — identified as 66-year-old Ronald Steve Roberts — died Monday at a hospital, the affidavit states. The fourth person who was shot at, but not hit, had dropped their cellphone as they hurried to get away and eventually returned to the scene to retrieve it, according to the affidavit.

Figueroa Rivera faces charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault with a firearm and two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, records show.
