ORLANDO, Fla. – If you’re reading this, kudos, you’re well on your way to celebrating National Book Lovers Day!
This biblio-inspired day is celebrated every Aug. 9. Who knows when or who started this day, but it just gives us one more reason to visit our favorite bookstore or head to the library for our next page-turner.

Speaking of favorite bookstores, mine just happens to be Abraxas Books in Daytona Beach.
When you walk into this bookstore owned by James Sass, it feels like being wrapped in a weighted blanket, comforted by stacks of words and prose in an old storefront that use to be: a camera store, a funeral home, a grocery store, a gym, an antique store and a canvas and rigging shop.
I tend to try and read multiple books at the same time. Right now, I’m reading “Ansel Adams and the American Landscape” and “Magnum Streetwise,” a book about street photography by renowned Magnum photographers. Those are scratching my itch for photography, which is one of my first loves.
I’m also reading “Vaccinated: One Man’s Quest to Defeat the World’s Deadliest Diseases” about the amazing Maurice Hilleman who discovered and developed nine vaccines that practically every child currently gets. I love the history of healthcare and this book does not disappoint.
