Lake Mary Little League team arrives near Williamsport, one step closer to World Series

World Series scheduled to run from Aug. 14-25

LAKE MARY, Fla. – After family and supporters sent off the Lake Mary All-Stars on Thursday, the players are one step closer to Williamsport, Pennsylvania for the Little League World Series.

The team defeated Tennessee on Tuesday to win the Southeast Region, giving them a chance at the World Series this year.

“I’m incredibly proud of these kids and the work that they’ve put in and the dedication that they’ve done,” head coach Jonathan Anderson said before their departure.

The team shared photos with News 6 after they touched down and were en route to their destination in Williamsport as of Thursday evening.

The Lake Mary All-Stars are the fourth team from Central Florida to make the Little League World Series. No team from Florida has ever won the tournament.
