ORLANDO, Fla. – Monday on Breakfast With Bridgett, the coffee talk focused on National Breastfeeding Awareness Month.
Registered dieticians from Eatwell Exchange, Ashley Carter And Jasmine Westbrooks, shared insight on breastfeeding rights, support and resources, health and financial benefits, as well as challenges.
“Women should be provided a space to nurse. It’s important to know when a woman’s breastfeeding, it lowers the chances that her baby gets sick, it also increases the bond. There’s also rules for when and how you can breastfeed depending on the size of the employers,” Carter and Westbrooks both noted during the interview.
“It’s good to have support from others whether it’s an international board lactation consultant, family or friends to guide you through that support,” they said.

“The main thing to know is that every woman can breastfeed, regardless of breast size, regardless of socioeconomic status, so it’s a great way to even the playing field.”
The dieticians noted that families can save anywhere from $2,000 to 4,000 a year when breastfeeding instead of buying formula. They said breastmilk is the healthiest choice for feeding babies because it strengthens the baby’s immune system and a mother’s milk is specifically formulated to an individual baby’s nutritional needs.
