1 killed when dump truck crashes through wall into Marion County golf course

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Dunnellon man was killed Tuesday morning in a crash involving a dump truck in Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 9 a.m. on County Road 225A, just south of NW 79 Avenue Road.

According to the crash report, the 44-year-old driver of the dump truck was traveling north on County Road 225A when for an unknown reason crossed over the center line, exited the roadway and onto the wet grass, before striking a concrete barrier wall.

According to Marion County Fire Rescue, a 911 caller said the dump truck went off the road and went through a retaining wall.

Firefighters worked to get the driver out of the vehicle, and he was later pronounced dead.

An investigation is ongoing.
