Asher, Christina Wilson join Breakfast with Bridgett

ORLANDO, Fla. – Monday on Breakfast with Bridgett, Apopka’s Dog Mayor, Asher, and his owner Christina Wilson stopped in to talk more about their work to support area animal rescues.

It’s a fundraiser where canine candidates raise money to benefit their chosen animal rescues and the top fundraiser is awarded the honorary title of dog mayor. This past campaign raised over $22,000 for 5 animal rescues.

“Asher is a search and rescue dog for APD. This is his second term as the Apopka Dog Mayor. Some of his responsibilities include promoting things that are happening within the Apopka community as well as speaking out on behalf of the animals that live in the local area. A lot of times, you can find Asher at any festivals, concerts, business openings, those sorts of things. He likes to keep busy around town,” Wilson said.

The dog mayor election is part of Main Street Apopka programs promoting greater connections and support in the community.

You can even show support now for local animal rescues with their “Paw It Forward” fund.
