Community rallies as Lake Mary All-Stars aim to continue magical run in Little League World Series

Lake Mary All-Stars play Monday at 7 p.m.

LAKE MARY, Fla – A baseball game can be as much about what happens on the field as the people sharing the moment in the stands and the city of Lake Mary is certainly sharing a sense of pride for their team that is playing in the Little League World Series.

Monday at 7 p.m. The Lake Mary All-Stars play against the Southwest champs from Boerne, Texas.

Back at home, there have been fundraisers and watch parties at restaurants and sports bars. Flyers supporting the team are posted in businesses around the city.

Online donations have been adding up on a Go Fund Me page created for the team to support travel costs while their families stay in Williamsport for the tournament.

News 6 spoke to people back here at home Monday before the All-Stars next big game.

“It’s really exciting to see them representing our town,” said Randy Seidler. “Every time they make a play, we’re really excited. We’re jumping off the couch.”

Randy Seidler’s family has been watching the All-Stars games on TV at home. Christy Seitz says her family is cheering them on as well.

“We watch it every time they play,” Seitz said. “I work for the school system, and so I’m super excited to encourage all the kids.”

Javier Castro says he knows the team’s coach.

“I want to support John,” Castro said. “Every time we play basketball, he’s always updating us about the pitchers. I’m happy for him. He deserves it.”

“Keep your heads up and just push through. Do your best,” added David Bailey. “They have the full support of Lake Mary.”

Rebecca Shipley said she is proud to follow the team’s journey in Williamsport.

“They’re putting Lake Mary on the map,” said Shipley. “I have three young grandchildren. Two grandsons, and one of them he’s already decided he wants to try to play baseball.”
