SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was killed Monday night in a head-on crash in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened around 7 p.m. on County Road 472 near NE 42nd Boulevard.

According to troopers, a Nissan Altima driven by a 55-year-old Oxford woman was traveling east on County Road 472 when her vehicle was struck nearly head-on by a Cadillac CTS driven by a 52-year-old Ocala man, who was traveling west and entered into the eastbound lane while passing traffic.
The crash caused both vehicles to rotate to the south shoulder, with the Altima overturning multiple times, the FHP said.
The woman died from her injuries, troopers said.
The FHP said the driver of the Cadillac CTS and an 81-year-old passenger suffered serious injuries and were both taken to a hospital.
No other details have been released.
