‘I heard a big explosion:’ Neighbors capture video of fatal car fire near Dr. Phillips

Woman found dead in Orange County neighborhood

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Neighbors in an Orange County neighborhood described what they saw as a car with an unresponsive woman inside erupted into flames Tuesday afternoon in the driveway of a nearby home.

The woman, in her 30s, was found dead inside the burned-out vehicle in the Dr. Phillips area, officials said.

Fire officials said they responded around 2:50 p.m. Tuesday to a car fire in the 5000 block of Glasgow Avenue.

“It was a crazy, crazy moment,” said a neighbor who didn’t want to be identified.

The neighbor said they were asleep when the incident began.

“I heard a big explosion. I run outside and I see black smoke and a woman screaming, hearing a woman screaming, so I jumped in my car, came down a little bit, and when I came down to the house, the car was just engulfed in flames,” the neighbor said. “It was just sky-high with flames and the noise of it was just totally abnormal.”

The woman, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene, sheriff’s officials said.

The neighbor said he saw a “bomb-sniffing dog” and about 10 detectives at the home.

“We’re all still trying to figure out what happened.”

The state fire marshal is spearheading the investigation, deputies said.

No other details have been released.
