ORLANDO, Fla. – Thousands of students in Central Florida recently returned to school, but many were still in need of school supplies.

That’s why News 6 and A Gift For Teaching joined forces Thursday to host a donation drive and raise funds to help provide free school supplies to teachers and students in Orange and Osceola counties.

“Every dollar donated (Thursday) will actually be able to provide up to $20 worth of school supplies because of generous funders who’ve committed to do matching donations today,” Garcia explained.

BFARR Contracting also partnered with A Gift For Teaching to provide students with the tools they need.

In total, $30,168 was raised, netting over $600,000 in supplies.
