‘So incredibly excited for these kids:’ Details announced for Lake Mary All-Stars victory parade

Parade to start at Lake Mary Ave. and head South down Country Club Road

LAKE MARY, Fla. – Lake Mary city officials announced the parade details for the upcoming celebration to honor Little League World Series champions the Lake Mary All-Stars.

The city is planning the celebration for the world champions after they beat Chinese-Taipei 2-1 for the title on Sunday.

According to a news release, the parade will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. and will start at Lake Mary Avenue and head South down Country Club Road. The celebration will continue west on Crystal Lake Avenue before taking a final turn south on 4th Street.

“The kids will get recognition, but along the way, kids get to ride in convertible corvettes, and from what I hear monster trucks, we’ll have mascots from theme parks and major sporting organizations across Central Florida,” said Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Lake Mary Bryan Nipe.

“I think it’s going to be something for the record books, not just the athletic record book but for the community,” Seminole County Commissioner, Amy Lockhart said.

Lockhart said she expects thousands of people to be at Saturday’s celebration.

Officials said the parade will feature the winning team, former Major League Baseball players, local professional team mascots and elected officials.

After the parade, a block party is set to take place at Central Park located at 100 N. Country Club Road.

“The Lake Mary Little League 12u Boys baseball team has made the community proud with their remarkable performance, securing the state championship, regional championship, U.S. Championship, and World Series Championship at Little League World Series. This celebration will honor their hard work, dedication, and incredible sportsmanship,” the release read in part.

“I was in South Florida this weekend and there are community members who live in other communities throughout the state -- when they found out I was from Seminole County, they wanted to come and talk about this great team,” Lockhart said. “So people are paying attention from all over,” Lockhart said.

Lockhart said this event is bringing people together.

“We are so incredibly excited for these kids, for these players, their families, the coaches,” Lockhart said. “This is a once in a lifetime, maybe never in a lifetime experience for our community. And there’s really very few words that I think adequately express the excitement in the air. You can just feel it.”

“The event is completely supported and any additional support we know the Lake Mary Little League kids and families can probably use it,” Nipe said.

Officials encourage those who attend to park at the Lake Mary SunRail Station, Seminole State College, designated downtown parking or public lots located throughout the city.
