SANFORD, Fla. – One of two suspects behind a fatal stabbing four years ago was sentenced to prison time on Friday, according to the State Attorney’s Office.
In a release, SAO officials said the suspect — Jaide Caporale — pled guilty to second-degree murder. She was sentenced to 35 years in prison — the maximum sentence she could receive thanks to the plea deal.

The incident happened in August 2020, which is when the body of 30-year-old Jo’el Cosby of Sanford was discovered in Geneva.
At the time, deputies said Cosby was Caporale’s on-and-off boyfriend. Eventually, investigators announced they found evidence leading Caporale and her then-new partner, Marvin Bryant, to the killing.

According to detectives, Caporale was the last person to be seen with Cosby in Sanford. She reportedly drove him to a home in Deltona, which is where she and Bryant lived.
Afterward, Bryant stabbed Cosby several times in the head and torso before he and Caporale dumped his body in Geneva, the release states.
Following their arrest, Bryant was ultimately convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison earlier this year.
“Love triangles never turn out good. This one turned deadly,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said.
