UCF Knights look ahead to week 2 after dominant win in 1st game of season

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – UCF football held its weekly press conference previewing this Saturday’s home game against Sam Houston.

Speakers included Head Coach Gus Malzahn, wide receiver Xavier Townsend and defensive tackle Ricky Barber.

UCF is coming off a 57-3 win over New Hampshire last week. After a slow start, the offense got it going with 454 total rushing yards. Star running back RJ Harvey had 142 yards and two touchdowns.

Quarterback KJ Jefferson went 7-14 and finished with 164 yards and two touchdowns.

On the defense, the Knights gave up a total of 162 yards and had two interceptions.

This is UCF’s second game against a non-conference opponent this season. The last one is against the Florida Gators on Oct. 5, in Gainesville.

UCF starts Big 12 play away at TCU on Saturday, Sept. 14.
