Port Orange man carjacks, kidnaps woman before running into Wawa with gun, police say

PORT ORANGE, Fla. – A 35-year-old Port Orange man is accused of carjacking and kidnapping a woman before running into a convenience story and grabbing an employee, according to Port Orange police.

According to a news release, an armed carjacking and kidnapping happened on Sunday in Daytona Beach. A man entered a vehicle being driven by a woman he did not know, pointed a gun at her and “told her to drive.”

Port Orange police said they received a “BOLO” for the vehicle and later spotted it coming into the city.

According to the release, officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle where it pulled into a Wawa parking lot. The suspect – identified as Deyquann Foster – jumped from the back seat of the vehicle and ran into the gas station, where he grabbed an employee.

Police chased Foster inside, where he ultimately complied with the officer’s commands and was placed under arrest.

According to the release, Foster had a firearm tucked into the waistband of his pants when he was arrested.

Foster faces charges of kidnapping, armed carjacking, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, battery, and resisting without violence.

He was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail with no bond, police said.
