‘Hidden gem:’ This Central Florida city gets top marks for seniors

PALM COAST, Fla. – The city of Palm Coast in Flagler County is getting love from senior travelers as a hidden gem vacation spot.

Travel + Leisure magazine reports Palm Coast was ranked the No. 1 hidden gem destination by Carewell, a medical supply website.

Carewell says it analyzed more than 160 cities across the country for “exceptional vacation conditions, affordability and vibrant communities” for seniors. Factors included lodging, dining and bars, walkability, safety and senior populations.

Carewell praised Palm Coast’s parks, proximity to the beaches, nature trails and golf courses.

Two other Florida cities made the top 10 for hidden gem destinations for seniors: Largo, on the Gulf Coast, and Boynton Beach in South Florida.
