‘A Kid Again’ draws up partnership with Crayola Experience to bring fun to Central Florida children with illnesses

‘A Kid Again’ services children with life-threatening illnesses, as well as their families

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – An organization is helping children with life-threatening illnesses and their families spend time together by doing fun activities outside of a doctor’s office.

“A Kid Again” partnered with the Crayola Experience on Sunday to give kids with different illnesses and their families a day just to enjoy each other by doing different, interactive activities like making their own crayons.

Ann Anderson said she was excited to bring her daughter, Jaymes, to the Crayola Experience, with “A Kid Again.”

“I was super excited to bring her here today and just have fun,” Anderson said. “Just be a kid and not being doing those things that we do throughout the week. All the therapies and stuff like that.”

Jeffrey Brown was also there with his family on Sunday. He said events like this offer his son Nathan the opportunity to engage and connect with others.

“These events that offer the opportunity for Nathan, who has a pretty significant neurodevelopment disorder, to interact with and do things are pretty great,” Brown said. “Any activities, you know, where he can be included along with everybody else despite his disability is enjoyable.”

Jen Koma is the chief operating officer for the national office of “A Kid Again.”

She said their organization is unique because not only do they serve kids with life-threatening illnesses, but their immediate families, too.

“When a family is going through a difficult medical journey, it isn’t just the ill child,” Koma said. “It’s the parents and it’s the siblings and so being able to not think about that next hospital visit or doctor’s appointment is really powerful where they just get to come together, meet other families that are going through similar medical journeys and just have fun.
