According to troopers, a person in a gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback was involved in a road rage incident with the driver of a Tesla.
Shots were fired from the Volkswagen and the Tesla was struck, according to the FHP, which said a 33-year-old man in the Tesla then discovered that he had been shot in the leg.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment, the FHP said.
After an investigation by the FHP, Jorge Luis De Jesus Carrasquillo, 35, of St. Cloud, was arrested and booked into the Orange County jail on charges of attempted murder, direct discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
The victim advised he had changed one lane to the right, from the inside lane, as a Volkswagen behind him was flashing its headlights. The Volkswagen then passed his vehicle, changed into his lane and brake checked him before the victim recalled gunfire out of the vehicle’s passenger side, according to Carrasquillo’s arrest affidavit.
Carrasquillo was contacted and arrested after his ex-wife allegedly tipped off the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the affidavit states. Speaking with a detective, Carrasquillo allegedly said that he was sorry and advised where to find a loaded 9mm Taurus handgun under the driver’s seat of his 2017 Volkswagen.
No other details have been released.
