Arrest made after driver shot during road rage incident on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A man was arrested Thursday in connection with a road rage shooting on Florida’s Turnpike in Orange County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The shooting occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes at mile marker 251, near exits to State Road 417 and Hunter’s Creek, the FHP said.

According to troopers, a person in a gray or silver Volkswagen hatchback was involved in a road range incident with the driver of a Tesla.

Shots were fired from the VW and the Tesla was struck, according to the FHP, which said a 33-year-old man in the Tesla then discovered that he had been shot in the leg.

The man was taken to a hospital for treatment, the FHP said.

After an investigation by the FHP, Jorge Luis De Jesus Carrasquillo, 35, of Saint Cloud, was arrested and booked into the Orange County Jail on charges of attempted murder, direct discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

No other details have been released.
