Florida man doesn’t let flooding stop him from attending friend’s wedding

Neighbors along Riverdale Road deal with chest-high flooding

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Riverdale Road in Orange County turned into a river after heavy rains, but that didn’t stop one man from finding a creative way to make it to a friend’s wedding.

Grant Carter was seen kayaking down the flooded street to ensure he had clothes for the special event.

“I went and got a kayak from my parents, paddled down the street, grabbed my keys because I know I locked my doors before I left,” Carter said.

Determined to attend the wedding, Carter expressed his dedication to the bride and groom.

“I love you, Noah and Ashley. I can’t wait to be there for your magical day,” he said.

Carter added that the floodwaters have started to recede, dropping by about 8 inches, though some of his neighbors had been navigating chest-deep water earlier in the day.

Most of the residents along Riverdale Road have evacuated, according to Carter, with only a few choosing to stay behind.
