‘Dear Evan Hansen’ set to perform at two Central Florida theatres

Touring musical making a stop in Melbourne before heading to The Villages

MELBOURNE, Fla. – “Dear Evan Hansen” is bringing its show exploring our complex, interconnected, and social-media-filled lives to two local theatres.

The musical follows 17-year-old high school student, Evan Hansen.

He always feels like he’s on the outside looking in, until he finally gets the chance to fit in by becoming caught up in a lie and at the center of a whirlwind of events. The musical showcases the powerful message of finding ourselves in the quest to fit in.

The musical opened on Broadway in Dec. 2016. The show has won 6 Tony Awards, including Best Musical, Best Book, Best Score, Best Actor for Ben Platt, and Best Featured Actress for Rachel Bay Jones.

The musical has some hit songs including “You Will Be Found,” “Waving Through A Window,” and “For Forever.”

The touring production of the show will be at Melbourne’s King Center Oct. 29-30, before heading to The Sharon in The Villages Nov. 6-7.
