MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing, 79-year-old Marion County man with Alzheimer’s.

Rigoberto Chavez walked away from his home — located in the 1400 block of SE 178th Street in Summerfield — between 9:10 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

In the alert, Chavez was described as 5 feet, 4 inches tall and 125 pounds with brown eyes and gray hair. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt, black sandals, and an adult diaper under black underwear.

Chavez primarily speaks Spanish and may not respond to those who approach him, authorities said.

Anyone who sees Chavez or knows of his whereabouts should call 911 immediately.
