On Nov. 3, Florida residents will have to wind their clocks back yet again for the end of daylight saving time.

In response, U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Florida, is once again pushing to make Daylight Saving Time a permanent fixture.

This comes around six years after former Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed HB 1013 into law, which would keep daylight saving time in place permanently for all Florida residents.

Florida is one of many other states that have pursued ending the practice.

However, the legislation would only take effect if the U.S. Congress amends the law to observe daylight saving time year-round, too.

Soon after the bill was signed, Rubio introduced the “Sunshine Protection Act,” which seeks to bring the change to the federal level. However, it has been in legislative limbo in the years since then.

On Monday, Rubio issued a statement on his support for daylight saving time. It reads as follows:

“It’s time to lock the clock and stop enduring the ridiculous and antiquated practice of switching our clocks back and forth. Let’s finally pass my Sunshine Protection Act and end the need to ‘fall back’ and ‘spring forward’ for good.”
