ORLANDO, Fla. – Shortly after a mass shooting left two dead, six wounded and one other person trampled and injured early Friday in downtown Orlando, social media lit up with a mugshot that users claimed to be the culprit.
The only problem is that it wasn’t him.
News 6 reporter Erik Sandoval did a Google image search and was able to backtrack where the image posted on social media originated.
The photo that went viral showed the mugshot of 16-year-old Santana Cooper, who was arrested this week on murder charges in Kentucky.
The 17-year-old arrested in the Orlando shooting was identified as Jaylen Edgar (pictured in an Orlando police social media post below).
Edgar faces two counts of first-degree murder with a firearm and six counts of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm.
