PINE HILLS, Fla. – On Friday, we visited the Pine Hills community to address an issue that continues to impact our residents: pedestrian safety.

With Central Florida often ranked among the top regions in the nation for vehicle-versus-pedestrian crashes, the need for change is pressing. Pine Hills has particularly seen persistent rates of these crashes, underscoring the urgency for community action and education.

During our live web stream — accessible on ClickOrlando.com, News6+, YouTube and the News 6 app — will dove into the details of pedestrian safety in Pine Hills and across Central Florida. We covered topics such as crosswalk improvements, driver awareness, and community programs designed to educate both pedestrians and drivers.

Together, we can work toward a safer environment for everyone, reducing these crashes and fostering a community where people feel safe walking through their neighborhoods.

How You Can Make a Difference:

• Drive mindfully: Slow down in pedestrian-heavy areas and be aware of crosswalks, especially in residential neighborhoods like Pine Hills.

• Spread the Word: Pedestrian safety is a community effort. Share safety tips with friends, family, and neighbors to raise awareness.

Let’s work together to make Pine Hills — and all of Central Florida — safer for pedestrians.
