Marion County deputies search for man accused of cutting off GPS monitor before trial in stalking case

Adam Knisley, 46, was due in court later this month

Adam Knisley, 46 (Marion County Sheriff's Office)

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office’s Domestic Violence Unit is looking for 46-year-old Adam Knisley, accused of cutting off his court-ordered GPS monitoring device before going on trial in a stalking case.

Court documents show Knisley was due before a judge later this month for a pre-trial conference.

According to his arrest affidavit, Knisley was booked in late October, accused of stalking his ex girlfriend. Following several incidents involving Knisley allegedly banging on the woman’s front door and revving a motorcycle in front of her residence following their separation several days prior, she told deputies that he at one point texted her a screenshot of a map depicting the addresses of her home and of a store that she had visited that day.

In addition to this and to Knisley reportedly trying to call the woman dozens of times — as well as sending her even more text messages — the woman recounted unreported past incidents of alleged domestic violence, in one instance telling investigators that Knisley choked her during an argument about a year ago.

Anyone who sees Knisley or has information on his whereabouts is urged to not approach him and to instead call 352-732-9111.

Victims of domestic violence can call the National Domestic Violence Hotline, available 24 hours a day at 800-799-7233.

Harbor House of Central Florida offers a 24-hour confidential crisis hotline, reachable at 407-886-2856.
