LAKE CITY, Fla. – A 9-year-old is in a Gainesville hospital recovering after she was hit by a car in Lake City, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

On Thursday morning, the girl’s mother said she took her to the bus stop, watched her get out of the vehicle and walk toward her bus, according to News 6 partner WJXT.

That’s when she says her daughter, Aubrielle, was hit and thrown about 50 feet into the air.

FHP said the child was transported to Shands UF Hospital with serious injuries.

The 19-year-old driver of the car was not injured and was wearing a seat belt, FHP said

The girl’s mother, Tiara Thomas, wrote on GoFundMe, “My child was killed on impact & her bus driver had to perform CPR to bring her back to life.”

Thomas wrote that Aubrielle was in the ICU for 72 hours after being in surgery.

“We are looking at possible future surgeries & amputation of her left foot due to the artery that supplies blood to the foot being so damaged,” said the post.

Thomas set up the GoFundMe to assist with the long road to recovery.

“Due to the injuries she sustained, I am unable to go to work & she cannot return to school until fully recovered. So I will be with my daughter 24/7 until we can get back to our normal lives,” wrote Thomas. “If anyone would like help during this trying time, we are so appreciative of everything. If you are unable to help, we completely understand but your thoughts & prayers are greatly appreciated.”
