ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 is helping the Salvation Army kick off its annual Angel Tree program.
The program provides toys, clothing and essential items for children whose families are going through financial hardship. This year, we’re looking to help 5,000 children ranging from infants to 14-year-olds in Orange and Osceola counties and 1,000 seniors in need.

Lucind Pluviose, a single mother of three, is just one of many parents who has been supported by the Angel Tree program.
“Before I found out about Angel Tree, if I’m completely honest, when I had my kids ... we never really celebrated Christmas. We didn’t have Christmas, we didn’t have gifts and stuff,” Pluviose said. “... I recommend if you have any troubles or problems, please contact them. They’re literally the most amazing people.”
Angel Tree locations across Orlando are ready for the community to select a name, each with a list of items to make the holiday season brighter.
There are two ways you can adopt an Angel this year — you can adopt your Angel virtually this year, as well as in person at participating locations.
“It gives them assurance that they’re not alone, that there’s a community there,” said Capt. Ken Chapman, Salvation Army area commander.
