ORLANDO, Fla. â Thanksgiving may be a week away, but for those of you looking to get in the Christmas spirit, a local event is offering up some inspiration.
Festival of Trees is underway at the Orlando Museum of Art located at 2416 N. Mills Avenue in Orlando. Proceeds from the event benefit art education programs at the Orlando Museum of Art.
Volunteers from across Central Florida create one-of-a-kind holiday decor. Some getting inspiration from pop culture.
If youâve got a âblank spaceâ at home, thereâs a couple trees thatâs sure to make âsparks flyâ and cause neighbors to go âredâ with envy.
âItâs been a labor of love for about 18 months,â said interior designer, Lindsay Matteoni.
Matteoni is part of the group who created the Christmas trees made for Swifties complete with friendship bracelets, a guitar and ornaments related to the pop star. Even an ode to her NFL boyfriend.
âThereâs a lot of little hidden elements. I did a deep sea dive and went into all of her different eras to keep it interesting for you to look at,â said Matteoni.
Thereâs also a mini Swiftie tree and plenty of Tay Tay tidings in the form of wreaths and life-size superstar cutouts.
Itâs all part of the more than 50 Christmas displays at the Festival of Trees event at the Orlando Museum of Art hosted by Council of 101.
âItâs a beautifully curated holiday experience. We completely overtake the Orlando Museum of Art and transform it to a holiday galore,â said Festival of Trees Chairperson Stefaney Giordano.
Along with unique trees thereâs wreaths, tablescapes and gingerbread displays all up for grabs. The items created by local designers are for sale with proceeds supporting art and educational programming at the museum. Over the years the event has raised over $4.5 million.
âWe do it because we love art and we want to make sure itâs here to stay and people can come here and enjoy the art exhibits along with the Festival of Trees,â said Council of 101 President Allison Hudson.
The trees are works of art, like the 15-foot Dior-inspired Christmas tree right at the front entrance. Itâs crafted entirely of steel with pearl garlands, dangling crystals and chandelier design elements.
âMy hope is that when people walk in they feel like they can respond to this installation. My big hope is that it evokes a feeling of joy,â said Stacia Aman.
You can support this fundraiser by participating in the auction in-person and online.
âOr you can just walk through and seek inspiration, so you can go home decorate your own tree. Thereâs some really great ideas that you can take from Festival of Trees,â said Giordano.
The Festival of Trees is open to the public through Sunday, November 24th at the Orlando Museum of Art. Thereâs also a holiday shop with locally-made gift for purchase. General admission is $20 for adults and $12 for children, seniors and first responders. You can purchase tickets on Eventbrite or at the door.
