The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said the 15-year-old, who was 14 at the time of the incident, told deputies that she and her friends were posing with several handguns and taking pictures. The girl, whom News 6 is not naming because of her age, later said they were livestreaming on Instagram, according to deputies.

Deputies say she originally told them that two other people began fighting over a gun, which caused it to fall on the floor and go off accidentally.

However, after deputies heard a different story from witnesses, the deputies interviewed the suspect again and she told them they were all playing with the guns and smoking marijuana while they streamed on Instagram. According to sheriff’s officials, the victim had “clicked” the trigger of the firearm at the suspect’s back, and that’s when she grabbed the gun from him and “clicked it” at his face at close range. The gun went off, killing the teen, officials said.

Deputies say the suspect had a limited knowledge of the firearm, which was a Glock 23. However, the deputies say the suspect knew the consequences of firing the gun if it had been loaded.

The suspect is facing charges of aggravated manslaughter with a firearm.
