ORLANDO, Fla. – The advisory committee that will decide on the Orlando Pulse memorial got a look at the three design plans for the site on Thursday and shared their views. Now, the public has a chance too.
The Pulse Memorial Advisory Committee, made up of members of the community as well as families of the victims and survivors of the 2016 mass shooting, is extending an invitation to the community at large to offer its input.

The initial designs are now available on the city of Orlando website for people to review and comment.
Architects offered three options for the memorial on Thursday. Some of the input they got from the committee members included making sure at least part of the nightclub building was preserved in the memorial, making sure the space was safe and welcoming and provided shade, and how to recognize each of the 49 victims.
The options include items like a walking path, an open space for reflection and water elements. All of the designs also include a visitor center. One design repurposes the Pulse building as a pavilion, while other designs remake the space itself.
The overall concept was to create a peaceful sanctuary.
The committee will take feedback from the community and the families and survivors and finalize a design concept in December.
The advisory committee was formed earlier this year, borne out of the dissolution of the onePulse Foundation that was originally charged with creating the memorial to the victims of the 2016 nightclub mass shooting. That group sold the Pulse site to the city of Orlando, which created the committee to get the memorial done in the next few years.
More information on the Pulse Memorial and the advisory committee is available on the city of Orlando website.
