KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A 24-year-old man faces charges related to a homicide on Thanksgiving in Kissimmee, according to a news release shared by police on Wednesday.
Kissimmee police said they responded to a 911 call on Nov. 28 after a passerby discovered a body near the Emory Street Canal.

According to the release, police initially treated the incident as a suspicious death, but as the investigation progressed, it was determined that it was a homicide.

The Kissimmee Police Department said that detectives identified 24-year-old Romeo Florez-Perez as the suspect.
Florez Perez was trying to flee the country and was located in San Antonio, Texas, with the help of the FBI, U.S. Department of Homeland Security and The San Antonio Police Department, according to the release.
Police said Florez Perez is currently in custody in Texas while awaiting extradition back to Florida. Upon his return, he will be transported to the Osceola County Jail.
Kissimmee police have not released the name of the victim, who is only identified as a man.
