Angie McCann, senior general manager for the Altamonte Mall, said it’s the busiest shopping day of the year.

“We’ve got extra housekeeping and we’ve got extra security,” McCann said. “We’ve got the stores ready. It’s going to be Super Saturday. They call it that for a reason.”

McCann said with fewer Saturdays in between Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, she thinks the mall will see a lot of shoppers.

“Typically the last two Saturdays of the season are the busiest and last Saturday held true to form,” McCann said. “So we’re expecting today to do the same.”

According to the NRF, some of the top 10 items consumers have already bought this year include clothing, electronics and jewelry.

Melissa Huggins was out picking up some last-minute gifts at Pandora on Saturday for her kid’s grandmothers.

“They had some bracelets and charms on sale that we’re going to get, and we’re probably going to check out Oceanology right after,” Huggins said.

The Pollard family came down from Seabring for Build-A-Bear. While they weren’t there to shop, they certainly didn’t oppose the idea of picking up a last-minute gift for someone.

“Being in the mall now, we might find an extra thing we didn’t realize we needed but it’s just nostalgic being here and I love it,” Michelle Pollard said.
