MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Two people were hospitalized after a home fire in Marion County on Saturday afternoon, according to a news release.
Marion County Fire Rescue officials said they responded to a structure fire “with trapped persons” in the 5200 block of NW 61st Lane in Ocala around 2:56 p.m.

According to the release, multiple 911 callers reported smoke and flames showing with people trapped inside.

Crews at the scene said they encountered “heavy fire conditions” at the home and jumped into rescue mode, entering the house through a window.
According to the release, firefighters then pulled a woman to safety from the residence while two other people were able to get out of the home on their own.
The fire was under control by by 3:13 p.m., officials said.
“Two patients were transported by MCFR paramedics to a local trauma hospital,” the release said in part.
No firefighters were injured battling the fire.
The cause of the blaze is not known and the fire remains under investigation.
