Woman shot when gun goes off on Lynx bus in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – A woman was shot on a Lynx bus Monday in Orange County when a gun accidentally went off, according to the sheriff’s office.

The shooting happened around 7:10 a.m. at Alafaya Trail and East Colonial Drive.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, a woman in her 50s was shot while on the bus and taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s not known who was in possession of the gun when it discharged.

Later Monday, Lynx issued a statement about the shooting.

"Safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. This was an isolated incident with one non-life-threatening injury. Fortunately, there were no injuries to other passengers or our bus operator," the statement said.

No other information has been released.
