According to sheriff’s officials, a student stood up on the bus and claimed another student had a bomb in his backpack.

Volusia County Schools said the driver stopped the bus and directed students to a safe place away from the vehicle.

Law enforcement officials investigated while a second bus took the students to school.

A bomb was not found, and no injuries were reported, authorities said.

The student responsible for the hoax threat was taken into custody and faces charges of false reporting and campus disruption.

“We take reports like these incredibly seriously and investigate all claims,“ Volusia County Schools said in a statement. ”We encourage parents to remind their students of the consequences of false reporting. However, if they do see or hear something concerning, they should tell a trusted adult or report a tip to FortifyFL.”
