NTSB still seeking video of Orlando holiday drone show accident

ORLANDO, Fla. – News 6 is staying on top of the holiday drone show accident in downtown Orlando that happened right before Christmas.

A seven-year-old boy needed emergency surgery after being hit in the chest when drones fell into a crowd of thousands of people at Lake Eola.

On Monday, Orlando City Council met for the first time since the crash but nothing about it was on the agenda.

Shocking video went viral after that horrifying accident at Lake Eola on Dec. 21.

A 7-year-old boy named Alezander was hit in the chest by a falling drone.

Documents obtained by News 6 show the drones were supposed to fly above Lake Eola itself, a safe distance away from crowds.

The city of Orlando told News 6 via email that, “All questions need to be directed to the NTSB. We don’t have any further information at this time.”

They also told me there are no drone shows scheduled at this time.

We called and texted Alezander’s mother to get an update but have not heard back.

The GoFundMe account for 7-year-old Alezander says just over $36,000 of their $50,000 goal has been reached.

Just a day ago someone donated $35. The last post was made on Dec. 23, saying “Zander is out of surgery and still fighting.”

The NTSB sent News 6 an email saying, “Investigators are gathering information from the UAS operator, Sky Elements, and the Federal Aviation Administration about the number of aircraft in the show, as well as the number that fell to the ground and into the crowd.”

They are also still looking for more video from the night of the accident.
