Video shows Winter Park officers, firefighters rescue 80-year-old man from partially-submerged truck

Man taken to hospital to be treated

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Video released Wednesday shows Winter Park officers and firefighters work to rescue an 80-year-old man from a partially-submerged truck.

The Winter Park Police Department said a good Samaritan flagged down officers around 5:40 a.m. and alerted them of a truck that went into a body of water near the Winter Park Racquet Club.

According to the department, officers found the man inside the truck and he appeared disoriented.

“Officers made efforts to free the man, while beginning to secure the vehicle. Firefighters gained access to the driver by using a tool to break the window,” the department said in a Facebook post.

The man was eventually removed from the vehicle and taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said it is believed he may have had a medical emergency that led to the truck going into the water.

“Officers credit Nate Camacho, the good Samaritan, with helping save the man’s life. With temps in the low 40s this morning, his actions provided responders with the valuable minutes to free the driver from the water,” police said.
