TAVARES, Fla. – A French Bulldog taken during an apparent home burglary in Tavares has been found safe and is back with its owners.
According to Tavares police, the burglary happened in the 2000 block of Merry Road on Thursday around 3:15 p.m., though no other items were stolen — “just the Frenchie.”

Officers located the dog in the roadway and returned it. However, the investigation into the burglary is still active.
Police said they don’t have surveillance footage of the home, but they’re still working with the owner to determine who could be responsible.
“No solid suspects at this time,” the police department stated.
