The Sunshine Corridor aims to connect SunRail to Orlando International Airport, International Drive, and Disney Springs.

Based upon its investment in Epic Universe, Universal has also set aside land to build the SunRail station should the project go through.
The Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission is seeking financial backing for the project development and environmental study before the federal or state government can provide funding to start building the line.
The Florida Department of Transportation believes the extension will increase SunRail ridership. They have committed to putting $2 million toward the project.
