PALM BAY, Fla. – Palm Bay police are sharing video showing the arrest of a “clown” who’s accused of trespassing.
The arrest occurred Monday afternoon at Interchange Square along Malabar Road, where the so-called clown had allegedly drawn police earlier and had since been trespassed from the entire property, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The man had initially been reported for walking around, yelling to himself, loitering and “serving no purpose on the property,” the affidavit states. Officers verbally trespassed the man and told him that he would be arrested if he returned, according to the affidavit.
“What do you call someone who returns to a shopping plaza after they’ve been Trespassed? ....a clown,” the Palm Bay Police Department said Wednesday on social media.
The post included body-worn camera video showing an officer approach the man, whose alias was taken down in the affidavit as “wicked jesus.”
“Don’t go anywhere (...) You’re not free to leave,” the officer can be heard saying on the video. “You’re under arrest now, put your stuff down.”
The video shows a brief scuffle as the man is taken to the ground, put in handcuffs and later placed in a patrol car. A clown horn sound effect is used to censor most of the swearing.
The man faces charges of attempted trespassing and resisting an officer with violence, records show. He’s being held on $5,500 bond at the Brevard County Jail.
News 6 is not naming or showing the man.
