1 dead in Marion County house fire, officials say

Fatal fire reported in 20600 block of West McKinney Avenue in Dunnellon

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A person was found dead after being trapped inside a fully involved house fire early Tuesday, according to Marion County Fire Rescue.

Officials said they responded around 12:50 a.m. to a fire at a home in the 20600 block of West McKinney Avenue in Dunnellon.

According to a news release, 911 calls reported the house fire, with one person trapped inside and two others able to escape the blaze.

Officials said crews arrived four minutes later to find the single-story, wood-frame home about 75% engulfed in flames.

According to the release, after an “aggressive attack” crews searched for the person inside the home.

The fire was brought under control by 1:18 a.m. and crews found a body in the home, officials said.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
