Deputies said the victim was at Deltona Memorial Gardens in May when Phillips allegedly broke into her truck and stole her purse. Phillip's prints were found at the scene, deputies said.

The Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook on June 7 asking for the public’s help making an arrest.

“Here's Sheriff Chitwood's sorry case of an unconscionable, malicious Bozo who abused the grieving (S.C.U.M.B.A.G.) of the Week!” the post read.

The Sheriff’s Office posted an update Friday saying that Phillips was arrested on July 24 in Sarasota County while fleeing a smash-and-grab burglary.

Deputies in Sarasota County said Phillips tried to give them a false name leading to charges of providing false information to law enforcement, along with burglary and grant theft charges.

Phillips remains in the Sarasota County Jail as of Friday, records show.
