Man forces workers into store, steals belongings, deputies say

ORLANDO, Fla. – A masked gunman robbed three Winn-Dixie employees as they left work late Monday night in east Orange County, deputies said.

The man walked up to the employees around 11:30 p.m. as they were exiting the store at 13200 E. Colonial Drive between State Road 408 and Lake Pickett Road.

Deputies said the man pulled out a handgun and forced the employees back into the store.

The culprit then demanded that the employees to open a safe, and after an unsuccessful attempt, the man took off with the victims' belongings, deputies said.

"The safety and security of our associates and our customers is our No. 1 priority at all times. Fortunately, no one was injured in this situation. Southeastern Grocers is working with the Orange County Sheriff's Office in its investigation," said Eddie Garcia, regional VP of Southeastern Grocers.
