ORLANDO, Fla. – From the state to the local level, newly-election public officials will soon be sworn in to their new positions following this year's midterm elections, including Orange County Mayor-elect Jerry Demings.
The former sheriff of Orange County will be sworn into office Tuesday as he replaces Teresa Jacobs, who's now the chair of the Orange County School Board.
News 6 investigator Mike Holfeld sat down with Demings this week for an episode of "The Weekly on ClickOrlando.com."
"What you're going to see in my administration is a lot of public-private partnership," Demings said. "In order for the county to achieve its true potential, we're going to have to take some measured risks."
Former Orlando police Chief John Mina will take over Demings role as Orange County sheriff.
"Sheriff Mina is going to do a fantastic job," Demings said. "I've been working with him for the last few weeks since he was elected to make sure this is an orderly and seamless transition."
