Palm Bay teacher's aide accused of having sex with teen

Alana Chasky, 35, charged with lewd and lascivious battery

PALM BAY, Fla. – A Brevard County teacher's aide is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student at her school, according to the Palm Bay Police Department.

Police said that they began investigating when they received a tip Alana Chasky, a 35-year-old  teacher's aide at Riverdale Country School, was involved with an inappropriate relationship with a student.

The victim's mother told police in September that she had found sexual text messages and images between Chasky and her son on his cellphone, according to an arrest affidavit.

Police said the victim's mother knew her son was spending time with Chasky because she was supposed to be helping him with his behavioral problems, but in May she told Chasky to stay away with her son because she thought the relationship was inappropriate, the report said.

Even after being warned, Chasky continued to pick the boy up and drop him off, police said.

On July 25, police said they spoke to the victim in reference to him violating his home detention and walking in front of Chasky's residence. The 14-year-old boy told police that he'd exposed himself to Chasky and the two had cuddled, according to the affidavit.

Chasky denied being involved in a relationship with the boy and there was not enough evidence to corroborate the relationship. Police warned Chasky to cease contact with the boy, the report said.

On Sept. 10, the boy was arrested in connection with a burglary at Chasky's house while she was out of town. During that investigation, the boy's mother showed police the incriminating text messages.

Police said the number the sexual messages were sent from matched Chasky's phone number.

The boy admitted to police on Oct. 4 that he and Chasky had sex multiple times at her home in Palm Bay, the report said. The relationship began in February and ended in the beginning of September, according to police.

Riverdale Country School CEO Michele Maust said Chasky resigned from her position as a teacher's aide on June 30.

"We are cooperating with the authorities in their investigation of this alleged event and will continue to do so until its completion.  The accused has not been an employee at the site since June 30. She voluntarily resigned during the Summer. Riverdale Country School remains committed to its mission of meeting the individual educational, therapeutic and behavioral needs of the children and adolescents it serves," Maust said.

Chasky was arrested Monday on a charge of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim between 12 and 16 years old and distributing obscene material to a minor.
