PLANT CITY, Fla. – Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis joined other state and local leaders Monday at the Florida Strawberry Festival in Plant City.

At the festival’s luncheon, DeSantis touted the annual festival as a “great engine for agriculture. Florida is the winter capital for strawberries in the United States, and Plant City is the beating heart of the industry.

DeSantis said he also brought son to enjoy all the food the festival has to offer, and promised some goodies for the rest of the family.

“Now I’m on a mission. I’ve got to bring back as many strawberries as we can fit to bring back to Tallahassee, so we’re working on doing that,” DeSantis said. “That’s something that the whole family enjoys. I’ve also got to bring back chocolate-covered strawberries. And so we’re going to get that done.”

The festival kicked off last Thursday and will run through this weekend.
